| Veggie Dog Food Offered By Humane Society |
| There are lots of vegetarians in the world from people to animals, but I’m having a little trouble believing that this new vegetarian dog food will be a success amongst dogs and their owners. It seems that the Humane Society of the United States is getting into the pet food business with a new all natural, organic dog food with no animal by products, called, Humane Choice. I’m all for living the healthy life and even going veggie if you can pull it off, but not so sure about forcing pets to forgo meat. Dogs are great pets, friends, family members, but they are still strongly led by their instincts and those instincts scream, ‘Bacon!’ Though, I have to admit it looks very good for your dog, as in healthy. There’s none of the weird miscellaneous animal parts that so many dog foods contain. Instead you’ll find Organic ground canola seed, organic brown rice, organic soybean meal, organic buckwheat, organic flaxseed and other organic products all apparently intended to make your dog a good pooper. On the odd side though, Humane Choice is made in Uruguay by a USDA Organic-certified grower and manufacturer. Although, I’m not certain how frequently the USDA sends someone down there to inspect the facilities. It does say that the business is family owned and ‘has been growing grains and vegetables and making and exporting organic and vegetarian dog food for many years’. Yes, I did a double take at ‘vegetarian dog food for years’ myself. You mean other companies have been selling veggie dog food…successfully? Well, I’m not sure how popular it is, but veggie dog food is offered by many like; Natural Balance, Iams and Avo Derm. So, if you felt like going out on a limb with your pooch the option is there.
